Aam Aadmi's (Common Man) rail is just costlier from Tuesday (22 January 2013). If you remember, last year Mr. Dinesh Trivedi was derailed due to fare hikes and Mamta Banarjee created a political drama on the issue. Now overcoming all that phase finally Indian Railways has announced to increase the passenger fare after a decade.
A glimpse of revised passenger fare:
- 2 Paisa Per Passenger KM (PKM) for Ordinary Second class (Sub urban)
- 3 Paisa per PKM for Ordinary Second class (Non-suburban)
- 4 Paisa Per PKM for Second Class (Mail/Express)
- 6 Paisa per PKM for sleeper class
- 10 Paisa Per PKM for AC chair car
- 10 Paisa for AC 3 tier
- 3 Paisa for first class
- 6 Paisa for AC 2 tier
- 10 Paisa for AC first class
Rounding off Fares: In Multiples of 5 Rupees
So after higher price for Petrol, Diesel, LPG... be ready for higher train fares.
